Earlier this week, EA and Battlefield Studios pulled back the curtain on the Battlefield 6 Campaign with a brand-new gameplay trailer. Although the general sentiment around the upcoming shooter is much more positive than it was for Battlefield 2042, fans appear to be majorly concerned with Battlefield 6‘s Campaign. As gameplay from various YouTubers and media outlets makes its way online, fans are noticing some glaring issues with the single-player mode.
After the disastarous launch of Battlefield 2042, all eyes have been on EA and Battlefield Studios to see how the two would right their wrongs with the next entry in the series. While fans have yet to go hands-on with Battlefield 6‘s Campaign, they have been able to check out the game’s Multiplayer during the two open beta weekends earlier this year. Although there was some slight controversy around the game’s movement, fans seemed to be absolutley thrilled with the changes that had been made when compared to its predecessor. The beta was a huge success for EA, becoming the biggest playtest in Battlefield history.
Battlefield 6 Fans Have Serious Concerns About the Game's Campaign
After receiving positive feedback regarding the game’s Multiplayer, EA shared the first gameplay trailer for Battlefield 6‘s Campaign earlier this week. Unfortunately, a large portion of the community is seemingly unhappy with what they’ve seen. Over on the Battlefield subreddit, one post says the Campaign looks “rough,” pointing out the clunky NPC behavior. In the clip, which can be seen below, three NPC soldiers are thrown completely out of whack when the player walks past them, causing them to walk in circles and glitch out.
It’s not just fans on Reddit that are concerned either, YouTuber BigfryTV, who got to go hands-on with some of the missions in Battlefield 6‘s Campaign, says that it likely won’t be a memorable experience. The content creator also compares the few missions they played to 2019’s Modern Warfare Campaign, which is often described as one of Call of Duty‘s best, but says that it “doesn’t even come close.” He goes on to say that he believes the single-player portion of the game is “inherently designed terribly.”
While the game’s Multiplayer has fans incredibly excited, the sentiment surrounding its single-player Campaign doesn’t appear to be great. The negative feedback comes just days after DICE boss Rebecka Coutaz said she wanted Battlefield 6 to be the best entry in the series yet. Coutaz joined DICE just weeks after the launch of Battlefield 2042, saying that she felt an “obligation” to create “one of the best Battlefields the world has ever seen.”
